Under the CSS the farm has opted to provide Educational Access to anyone wishing to book a visit to the farm, farmland and wildlife. The visit can be geared to meet the demand of the visitor ie reception class children will require different information to that of GCSE students on a geography trip. Judith is qualified under the Countryside Educational Verification Access Scheme (CEVAS) to enable visits to be more useful to everyone and to maximise the potential the farm has to offer to visitors. The Farm is also a certified site under CEVAS (2007). Facilities for hand washing and a special visitors room including a wet-weather viewing area are new this season and better access for disabled visitors is on-going. The type of visit you require will determine the time of year that you visit due to the seasonal changes that go on. Reception and KS1 children love the spring term, although some “gifted and talented” children in KS3 had to be dragged away this year, after visiting the livestock section!!!!! If we know what you need then the visit can be geared in that direction.
A brochure is available as is a full risk assessment, but you must also complete your own.
Full disabled toilet facilities are available and hot water hand washing too. There is a visitor’s room for wet weather viewing, but we do try to go out and about whatever the weather……..so dress appropriately
You may have seen in the press that the first group of facilities to be awarded the “Learning Outside the Classroom (LOTC) Quality Mark” have been announced, so far the only organisation with the award in this area is Moor Farm, Newborough.
